10. The Watchmen - March 6, 2009

Let’s just hope it doesn’t turn out as bad / boring as The Spirit did.

“The story is set in an alternate 1985 where superheroes exist, Richard Nixon is still president, and tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union are at an all-time high. The vigilante Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley) is investigating the murder of a former hero, the Comedian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), and uncovers a plot to discredit and murder various heroes. Rorschach discovers a far wider-ranging conspiracy involving his colleagues’ past which could completely change the course of history.“

9. Tormented - UK Film June 2009, unsure when/if US release

Starring the cute Alex Pettyfer

“Stephen Prentices script is about Darren Mullet, a bullied asthmatic, driven to suicide by his tormented life - ignored by his parents, ridiculed by his teachers and bullied at school. He returns from the dead to pay his teenage tormentors a final visit.“

 

8. Coraline - February 6, 2009

I’m having some pretty high expectations for this one as a fan of other stop animation films.

“A young girl walks through a secret door and discovers a parallel reality that is eerily similar to the life she already knows in director Henry Selick’s animated adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s international bestseller. Upon first glance, Coraline (voice of Dakota Fanning) begins to believe that the alternate version of her life is even better than the real thing, but when her parallel-universe parents attempt to keep her forever, the young girl must summon her resourcefulness and bravery in order to find her way back home and save her family. 7. Daybreakers - September 11, 2009

“In the year 2017, a plague has transformed most every human into vampires. Faced with a dwindling blood supply, the fractured dominant race plots their survival; meanwhile, a researcher works with a covert band of vamps on a way to save humankind.“

6. The Haunting in Connecticut - June 19, 2009

“When Sara (Virginia Madsen) and Peter (Martin Donovan) Campbell’s son Matt (Kyle Gallner) is diagnosed with cancer, they uproot their family to a home in Southington, Connecticut where they would be near a hospital for his treatment. As the family settles into their new home, which turns out to be a former mortuary, Matt grows increasingly disturbed by paranormal activity that seems to inhabit and possess the house. At a loss to help her frightened family, his mother turns to an enigmatic priest (Elias Koteas) who appears to rid the house of its ghosts– until the boy’s condition takes a sudden and unexplained turn for the worse and their lives are put in grave danger.“

 

5. Final Destination 4: Death Trip 3D, August 21, 2009

“On what should have been a fun-filled day at the races, Nick O’Bannon has a horrific premonition in which a bizarre sequence of events causes multiple race cars to crash, sending flaming debris into the stands, brutally killing his friends and causing the upper deck of the stands to collapse on him. When he comes out of this grisly nightmare Nick panics, persuading his girlfriend, Lori, and their friends, Janet and Hunt, to leave…escaping seconds before Nick’s frightening vision becomes a terrible reality. Thinking they’ve cheated death, the group has a new lease on life, but unfortunately for Nick and Lori, it is only the beginning. As his premonitions continue and the crash survivors begin to die one-by-one–in increasingly gruesome ways–Nick must figure out how to cheat death once and for all before he, too, reaches his final destination. The film marks the latest in the highly popular “Final Destination” series, and its first 3D installment, giving horror fans an especially visceral thrill ride.”

 

4. S. Darko, Sometime in 2009

“S. Darko takes place in the summer of 1995, seven years after the original film. It follows Donnie Darko’s younger sister, Samantha (Daveigh Chase), who, in the wake of his death, has found herself at age 17 with a broken family, mired in feelings of insignificance. She and her best friend Corey (Evigan) set off on a road trip to Hollywood in a bid to ‘make it big’, but their journey is cut short when their car breaks down unexpectedly, leaving them stranded in a small desert town. When a meteorite happens to crash-land nearby, Samantha is plagued by bizarre visions telling of the universe’s end and it appears that their breakdown was part of some grander plan. When she finds out she was actually adopted by the Darkos, and that she is in no way related to Donnie, she must face her own demons and, in doing so, save the world and herself“

 

3. New Moon, November 20, 2009

I absolutely in love with Robert Pattinson and Edward Cullen… I cannot stand ugly Jacob with his ugly long hair haha. I’ve always favoured Vampires over Werewolves and I will always continue to do so.

“Bella Swan is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love, Edward Cullen, but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with Jacob Black. Suddenly she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and finds her loyalties tested.“

 

2. True Blood S2, May 2009

Absolutely THE best show in existance at the moment especially since many of my other favourite shows have changed their formulas, cast, or have been cancelled.

A film that both Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov two of my most favourite people in the film industry EVER are involved with. Absolutely THE must see film of 2009 for me.

In addition a large strong rag doll has the number 8 on his shoulder.”
